America on the Move William S Phillips features the aircraft carrier USS America during the Vietnam war.

In June 1968, the aircraft carrier USS America steamed into the dangerous waters off the coast of Vietnam. Her last tour of duty had been the relatively secure task of patrolling the Mediterranean, Atlantic and eastern coast of the US. Now she would see battle duty for the first time.
Seen here off the Vietnamese coast, the mighty carrier launches an F-4 Phantom whilst an A-4 Skyhawk prepares to take the cat stroke. On her deck are an A-3 Skywarrior and two RA-5s. In the distance a cruiser and a destroyer hold station. Above, four A-4s fly in formation while an HC-7 Seasprite helicopter transits between the cruiser and USS America. 

Released by the Greenwich Workshop in 1988, this spectacular print and another issued around the same time, Those Last Critical Moments, were milestone works in the portfolio of William Phillips and became the first in a collection of paintings paying tribute to the USA's flagship aircraft carriers of the day. The print sold out many years ago and is difficult to find on the secondary market.

Condition - this print has been framed at some point - there are two marks on the very outside edge of the top border are where tape was used to secure the print in the frame - these are each about 5 x 0.5 cm - they are on the reverse of the print but one of them is slightly visible from the front as well. Fortunately the print was only on display for a short time and there is no evidence of fading - it was stored dark for a period and then about five years ago was removed from the frame and again stored flat and dark. The result is print that is pretty much as new with the exception of the marks of the top edge. There is no CoA available but we can confirm its provenance without doubt - it was bought from ourselves when issued in 1988 by a long standing collector - it is now back with us.
