Superb McDonnell Douglas AV 8B Harrier by Franklin Mint (previously CDC Armour Collection) in the makings and configuration of an aircraft from the US Marine ground attack squadron VMA-231 'Ace of Spades', Operation Desert Storm 1991.
A substantial and heavy weight die cast metal model with some plastic parts.
A pre-owned model taken in as part of a larger collection of aviation items. This model was displayed briefly but has spent most of its time boxed and in storage. The model is in mint condition except for one small flaw - part of the small 'Ace of Spades ' decal on the port side just under the cockpit canopy has come away, It would not really be noticeable when on display unless it was inspected very closely. Ideally it would be corrected with a 1:48 plastic kit decal. This is reflected in the price - this model is rare and would normally be in the £170-180 range. The original box is in exceptionally good condition with just a couple of minor imperfections.
These larger Armour Collection / Franklin Mint pieces are getting hard to find now, this one particularly so, they look impressive when displayed and would be a nice gift for an aviation enthusiast.
Detail image showing the fault.
For transit the original box will be packed securely inside a bigger postal box.
