Robert Taylor's Birth of a Legend features legendary Ace Erich Hartmann, with other pilots from JG52, in combat with Russian fighters over the Caucasus mountains in 1942.

This release was the third print in Robert Taylor's trilogy in tribute to Erich Hartmann.

A rare limited edition by Robert Taylor signed by Erich Hartmann himself plus eight other Knight's Cross holders who flew on the Eastern Front - between them amassing an extraordinary 1452 victories.

In this final painting of Robert Taylor’s highly sought after Hartmann Trilogy, this superb piece depicts the world's greatest fighter Ace, Erich Hartmann, achieving the first of his 352 air victories. Hartmann remains the top scoring fighter pilot in history.

Although he lost his aircraft in this tussle with a Russian IL-2, Hartmann had made his first kill. Unhurt, the young pilot was picked up by a German car and returned to base almost immediately. A legend was born.
