Combat Over the Reich by Robert Taylor - Custom Order Page

CUSTOM ORDER PAGE FOR ERWIN

A rare limited edition by Robert Taylor signed by five of the Luftwaffe's most respected Aces who flew the Me262 during World War II.

This release was the first of Robert Taylor's 'Wings of the Luftwaffe' collection.
Had the Me262 been developed solely as an interceptor it would have blunted the ever increasing, deep-penetration American daylight bomber raids into Germany. It might even have slowed the advance long enough to alter the course of the war. But Hitler under Goring’s advice, refused to bend in his belief that the new wonder jet be used as a bomber. By the time he relented in November 1944, it was too late.

Using the remarkable skills that have made him the most collected aviation artist in history, Robert Taylor graphically brings to life the potency of the Luftwaffe’s radical new jet in his magnificent painting, Combat Over The Reich.

Approaching their target at he oil refinery at Zwickau, 60 miles south west of Dresden, the 452nd Bomb Group's B-17 Fortresses were bounced by 28 Me262 jets from JG7. Screaming in from the six o'clock position, the jet pilots singles out the 3rd division just as they began their bombing run. The B-17 Fortress crew, having lost part of the tailplane, desperately defend their unwieldy bomber against the determined high-speed attack, by laying a wall of lead in the path of the Me262s.

Each print in Robert Taylor's Limited Edition, Combat Over the Reich, is individually signed by 5 Luftwaffe Me262 pilots:

Oberst HERMANN BUCHNER
Leutnant VIKTOR PETERMANN
Hauptmann ERNST-WILHELM REINERT
Major WERNER ROELL
Major ERICH RUDORFFER
