Mainly eye witness accounts of the vital and often overlooked heavy bomber contribution to the success of the D-Day landing and therefore to the ultimate winning of the war in Europe. Eight different aircrews, five RAF and three USAAF, tell widely different stories of their part in the operations before, during and after the day itself. Their vivid and dramatic accounts are supplemented by numerous contributions from other aircrew and groundcrew veterans, army personnel and French civilians.
