Desert Victory by Nicolas Trudgian features Me109Fs of JG27 in North Africa during Rommel's advance towards Tobruk.
Nicolas Trudgian's painting Desert Victory recreates all the atmosphere of the North African desert war with a stunning portrayal of the Me109s of 3./JG-27. The wing is depicted being led by Staffelkapitan Gerhard Homuth as they escort Afrika Korps armour heading for the front line at Gazala, Libya, on February 21, 1942. Flying alongside Homuth, the great Luftwaffe Ace Joachim Marseille scored his 49th and 50th victories on this day, earning his Knight's Cross. Below, the crew of an SdKfz 10 light half-track stop to investigate a crashed P-40 Kittyhawk belonging to No 112 Squadron RAF, brought down during an earlier contest
Each print in this unique edition is authenticated with the individual signatures of two top Luftwaffe Aces and an Afrika Korps gunner - all holders of the Knight's Cross:
Oberst EDUARD NEUMANN
Generalmajor FRIEDRICH KORNER
Leutnant GERHARD HALM.
Published in 1997 this print sold out some time ago and is becoming increasingly difficult to find.
Condition: this copy has a soft 3 cm approx handling crease in the lower tinted border close to the artist's signature. It is mild and not immediately obvious unless you know where to look - it would not be visible if framed. It is otherwise excellent with strong 'as new' colours, having never been framed and having been stored flat and dark at room temperature. It comes with the original Certificate of Authenticity. Normal price for a perfect example of this print would be £165.
The fault would be difficult to show in a photograph - however the print is covered by our 'No Quibble Guarantee' so if its not as you expected you can return it for a full refund.
Note: the 'Nicolas Trudgian' logo on the bottom right of the image does not appear on the actual print itself.
