A rare limited edition by Robert Taylor featuring RAF Hurricanes at the height of the Battle of Britain.
Robert Taylor's magnificent study of the legendary Hurricane captures wonderfully the spirit of that cataclysmic aerial conflict fought so long ago. Nearest, young Pilot Officer Geoffrey Page, later to become one of the RAF's most highly decorated fighter Aces, powers his Mk I Hurricane over the country lane at the edge of the airfield, as he and his fellow No 56 Squadron pilots make their third scramble of the day.
Robert Taylor's Limited Edition, Glorious Summer, is signed by six leading RAF Aces who flew Hurricanes in the Battle of Britain:
Air Commodore PETE BROTHERS
Wing Commander CHRISTOPHER 'Bunny' CURRANT
Group Captain DENNIS DAVID
Group Captain BILLY DRAKE
Wing Commander PAUL FARNES
Wing Commander GORDON SINCLAIR
Condition: this copy has a 3 cm mild handling kink in the left hand border area, about 1 cm in the white border and extending about 2 cm into the tinted border. it is not immediately noticeable and it would be concealed by framing. It is otherwise mint condition with strong 'as new' colours, having never been framed and having been stored flat and dark at room temperature. It comes with the original Certificate of Authenticity.
The fault would be difficult to show in a photograph - however the print is covered by our 'No Quibble Guarantee' so if its not as you expected you can return it for a full refund.
Normal price for a perfect example of this rare Robert Taylor print would be around £250-300.
