Into the Fray by Richard Taylor features the Hurricane of Douglas Bader during the Battle of Britain.
High over the white cliffs of Kent, Squadron Leader Douglas Bader leads the Hurricanes of 242 Squadron in a typically aggressive diving attack upon a large force of Heinkel 111s approaching the coast in yet another raid. Meanwhile, Spitfires from 66 Squadron tangle in deadly circling dogfights with the escorting Bfl09s of JG52. The target of the raid is London, but before they reach their destination the Heinkels will have to run the gauntlet of RAF Fighter Command. Soon the clear blue summer sky will witness trails of smoke from burning aircraft, contrails of swirling dogfights, and blossoming parachutes will float over the tranquil landscape below. This is September 1940, and the Luftwaffe has switched its assault away from the RAF's airfields and on to the capital. It is the climax and pivotal point of the Battle of Britain.
