A fascinating book by one the world’s leading aviation artists of the 1970s and 1980s. Luftwaffe Aircraft chronicles the evolution of the German air force from World War I to the 1980s. Michael Turner tackles a diverse range of subject matter in a highly accomplished manner. Technical accuracy combined with realistic settings making this a fine collection of images in its own right, but when married with very readable text from author Frank Mason it results in a very enjoyable reference work.
After a foreword by the artist and a short introduction by the author, the book moves straight into a chronological format starting with World War I fighters. In all there are 55 colour reproductions supported by numerous pencil sketches. Quality of reproduction is good throughout.
