S.B.D. Dauntless dive bombers from the U.S.S. enterprise attack and destroy Admiral Nagumo’s flagship, the Japanese carrier Akagi, off the island of Midway, 4th June, 1942
Each print in Robert Taylor's Limited Edition, Midway - Strike Against the Akagi, is signed by 6 pilots who took part in the Battle of Midway:
Lieutenant Commander DICK BEST – SBD Pilot who scored the direct hit that finished the Akagi
Captain ROBERT ELDER – TBD Pilot who was the only survivor of Torpedo Sqn 3
Major General MARION CARL – Wildcat Pilot with 18 ½ victories
Commander BILL ESDERS – SBD Pilot who attacked the Akagi
Captain SCOTT MCCUSKEY – Wildcat Pilot with 13 1⁄2 victories
Rear Admiral LEW HOPKINS – SBD Pilot who attacked the Akagi.
Condition: this print has a couple of small light marks in the left hand white border, about 3mm from the outer edge of the print, they are not immediately noticeable and would be concealed by framing. It is otherwise in mint condition having been stored flat and dark and never framed. It comes with the original Certificate of Authenticity
The fault would be difficult to show in a photograph - however the print is covered by our 'No Quibble Guarantee' so if its not as you expected you can return it for a full refund.
Please note: sales literature at the time listed Captain Jack Reid as a signer, however he was replaced at the last minute by Admiral Lew Hopkins.
