A rare secondary market print by Nicolas Trudgian, Moonlight Hunter features the Ju88 G-6 of legendary Luftwaffe night fighter pilot Paul Zorner. 

A Junkers Ju88 G-6, piloted by Major Paul Zorner, Gruppenkommandeur III./NJG100, based at Stubendorf, intercepts and badly damages a Lancaster of RAF Bomber Command over Germany in late 1944. Shedding debris and trailing flames, there may just be time for the crew to bale out before the mightly bomber falls away into the dark abyss.

This print is signed by night fighter legend Major Paul Zorner - Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves.

Originally a transport pilot, Paul Zorner flew in North Africa, the Mediterranean and southern Russia before retraining as a night fighter pilot, joining II/NJG2 in 1942 flying the JU88. In December he took command of 2/NJG3, flying both the Do217 and the Me110. He subsequently commanded 3/NJG3, 8/NJG3 and 3/NJG5 before being promoted to Kommandeur of 2/NJG100. He ended the war with 59 victories.

This print is one of a small number remarqued by the artist with a pencil drawing in the border.
