An RAF Beaufighter MK VI Nightfighter of 29 Squadron on a night mission in 1942.
The Bristol Beaufighter was a somewhat unsung hero of Britain's air power during World War II. After a short development period the first aircraft entered service in August 1940. The Beaufighter went on to give outstanding service throughout the war, equipping a total of 52 Squadrons across several theatres of operation and particularly excelling in the night fighter and torpedo-bomber roles.
