Mountain Wolf by Nicolas Trudgian features Fw190D-9s of JV44.
Set in a spectacular mountain scene, Nicolas Trudgian's print records the last days of air combat as World War II drew to a close. The most feared of the Luftwaffe's remaining units were those equipped with the remarkable Me262 fighter jet, but they were vulnerable to attack during take-off and landing. Commanding JV-44, General Galland countered the threat by employing Fw190 'Dora' 9s to fly top cover. Nicolas Trudgian's painting depicts the colourful Fw190 of Hptm Waldermar Wubke of JV-44 as he prepared to scramble 'Red Three' at Ainring airfield in may 1945.
Mountain Wolf by Nicolas Trudgian is signed by two Luftwaffe Knight's Cross holders who flew the Fw190D-9 operationally during World War II:
Major HEINZ LANGE
Major HANS-EKKEHARD BOB.
Published in 2001 this print sold out some time ago and is becoming increasingly difficult to find.
Condition: this print has a noticeable crease in the top in the top white border - it is 4.5cm long, running down through the white border and a couple of millimetres into the tinted border. There is also another area of indentations in the top right corner of the white border area - about 3 cm, looks as though the print has been pressed against something sharp. In the top right corner of the image area there are a couple of small indentations, 1-2 mm, again where something sharp seems to have been pressed against the surface. The faults in the border would be concealed by framing and the small indentations in the image area are unlikely to be noticeable. It is otherwise perfect with strong 'as new' colours, having never been framed and having been stored flat and dark at room temperature. The signatures are in perfect condition. It comes with the original Certificate of Authenticity.
This print would be ideal for someone wanting a modestly priced example for framing and display or for a collector wanting to extract the signatures for use in another presentation.
Normal price for a perfect example of this print would be £110.
The faults would be difficult to show in a photograph - however the print is covered by our 'No Quibble Guarantee' so if its not as you expected you can return it for a full refund.
Note: the 'Nicolas Trudgian' logo on the bottom right of the image does not appear on the actual print itself.
