Patrolling the Beach by Nicolas Trudgian features 401 Squadron Spitfires during the D-Day landings.
This print was originally a Companion Print to the limited edition Victory Over Gold and was never available to purchase separately. However we have a mint condition copy that is one of 250 from the D-Day Anniversary portfolio. The drawing depicts Spitfires of 401 Squadron over the D-Day beaches on their fourth, and last, patrol on June 6th.
The print is signed by Pilot Officer Arthur Bishop RCAF of 401 squadron - son of the legendary WWI pilot Billy Bishop VC.
