Superb Supermarine Spitfire Mk Va by CDC Armour Collection (later Franklin Mint) in the colour scheme of legendary RAF Ace and Battle of Britain veteran Wing Commander Douglas Bader CBE, DSO & Bar, DFC & Bar, DL, FRAeS. The aircraft is the unusual Va variant with eight wing mounted machine guns, preferred by Douglas Bader to the more common Vb type of the time which had a combination of machine guns and cannons. In this aircraft Bader led the famous Tangmere wing in the summer of 1941 - he was shot down over northern France on the 19th of August ending up at the infamous Colditz Castle maximum security prison.

A substantial and heavy weight die cast metal model with some plastic parts.

A pre-owned model taken in as part of a larger collection of aviation items. This model spent some time in a glass display cabinet before being boxed and put into storage. The model is in all intact and in superb condition. It includes an optional and unused fuselage mounted bomb with bomb rack. The original box is also in excellent condition.

These larger Armour Collection / Franklin Mint pieces are getting hard to find now, they look impressive when displayed and would be a fine gift for an aviation enthusiast.
