Summer of 42 by John Shaw features P-40s of the famous Flying Tigers over the beautiful Li River as they return to their base in Kweilin, China in 1942.

Shark-mouthed P-40C Tomahawk and P-40E Kittyhawk fighters of the legendary American Volunteer Group, return from patrol low over the picturesque Li River, near their base in Kweilin, China during mid -1942. Under the brilliant and often controversial leadership of Claire Lee Chennault, the AVG achieved a remarkable combat record since its debut in late 1941. Better known as the Flying Tigers, the AVG was disbanded July 4, 1942 to be succeeded by the U.S. Army Air Corps’ 23rd Fighter Group, who also served with distinction under Chennault through to the end of the war.

Released in 2004, this print sold out some time ago and is increasingly difficult to find on the secondary market, the 18 signature editions particularly so - normal price for a perfect example of this print would likely be over £500.

Condition - this print has a number of light marks in the right hand white outer border - they run run about 6 inches along the border - they are very light in tone and dont really show up very well in the photo on the left. There are also a couple of small faint blemishes in the left hand white and tinted borders. These faults would be mostly concealed by framing. It is otherwise mint with strong 'as new' colours, having never been framed and having been stored flat and dark at room temperature. It comes with the original Certificate of Authenticity. The faults are difficult to show properly in a photograph - however the print is covered by our 'No Quibble Guarantee' so if its not as you expected you can return it for a full refund.
