The Checkertail Clan by Nicolas Trudgian features P-51 Mustangs in combat with Fw190s.

With their brightly coloured checker board tails there was no mistaking the P-51 Mustangs of the 325th Fighter Group. Escorting B-24s over Austria in August 1944 they tangled with a group of Fw190 fighters. The ensuing dogfight spiralled down below the mountain peaks as Herky Green led the 'Checkertails' in a low-level chase. Herky nails one Fw190. Behind him his pilots will take out the two Fw190s. When all is done this day the 325th will be credited with 15 enemy fighters destroyed.

Published in 1999 this print sold out some time ago and is becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Condition: this copy has a small 2 mm white mark in the right hand tinted border, very difficult to spot unless you know where it is. In the top tinted border there is an indentation that is about 1.5 cm long plus further along a very mild handling kink. All of the faults could be concealed by framing. It is otherwise 'as new', having never been framed and having been stored flat and dark at room temperature. All the signatures are in perfect condition. It comes with the original Certificate of Authenticity. Normal secondary market price for a perfect example of this print would be £135.
