Tornado Strike by Philip West

Tornado Strike by Philip West features a low flying RAF Tornado GR4.

Built more than 40 years ago to fight a nuclear war, the RAF's primary ground attack platform the Tornado has finally retired from service.

The Tornado GR4 was capable of supersonic speeds and flight at low-level, making it one of the most potent attack aircraft in the world. New systems and weapon's upgrades kept the Tornado a versatile and effective interdiction strike, ground attack and reconnaissance platform for many years.

Each print in Philip West’s Limited Edition, Tornado Strike is signed by three Tornado pilots and three navigators:
Wing Commander Alistair J. Byford MA RAF (Officer Commanding 31 Squadron)
Sqn. Ldr. Andrew Arnold, Navigator, RAF, 31 Squadron Executive Officer
Flt. Lt. Helen Dawson, Navigator. RAF
Flt. Lt. Tom Boyle, Pilot. RAF
Major Matteo Omura, Navigator, Italian Air Force
Flt. Lt. Neil Pappini, Pilot, RAF.

Lysanders of 161 Special Operations Squadron turn onto their final course to a clandestine landing field somewhere in central occupied France, during a full moon period in 1943. Based at Tempsford, Bedfordshire and often operating from Tangmere to shorten the flight, the pilots flew a dead reckoning course to their first turning point, usually on the River Loire, using rudimentary navigating equipment. The moonlit town of Blois is easily distinguishable by its chateau, churches and bridge with the Forest of Chambord beyond. The agents in the rear cockpit prepare themselves by torchlight for the forthcoming landing. Each print in Philip West's Limited Edition, Loire Rendevouz, is signed by four highly distinguished Lysander pilots: Flt. Lt Peter Arkell, OBE, USAF Medal of Distinction Flt Lt. Murray Anderson, DFC*, US Air Medal Flt. Lt. R G 'Bob' Large, DFC, Legion d'honneur Sir Lewis Hodges, KCB, CBE, DSO, DFC.Subject: Special Operations Westland Lysander.
