The story of the Battle of Britain told through art. Published by the Military Gallery to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the battle.
Taking place from July to October 1940 the Battle of Britain is arguably the most historically significant military action in our nation's history. This book tells the story of that summer through the eyes of some of the world's best aviation artists. This beautifully illustrated collection of paintings and drawings - many of which were specially commissioned for this book - have been carefully selected from the archives of the Military Gallery to commemorate the Battle of Britain.
The book is divided into two parts: the first tells the story of the battle chronologically, the second gives a detailed breakdown of the various aircraft involved and their part in the battle. The text is all new and is liberally supported by maps, diagrams and of course plenty of artwork. The art pieces included are a mix of older releases from the Military Gallery archives and new works commissioned specifically for the book.
