Two of the most highly decorated fighter pilots of the ETO; Jim Goodson who flew operationally with the RAF, Eagle Squadrons and the USAAF almost throughout the entire war teams up with Robert Johnson, one of the stars in Hub Zemke's 56 Fighter Group. Goodson, having joined the redoubtable 4th Fighter Group, and Johnson flying with 'Zemke's Wolfpack' the crack 56th FG outfit - both piloted the formidable P-47 Thunderbolt during the USAAF's strenuous air fighting, escorting heavy bombers deep into German territory. Virtually every raid was intercepted by the Luftwaffe's determined Me109 and Fw190 fighters. Robert Johnson achieved an incredible 28 aerial victories in the space of just 12 months combat in Europe.
