This book chronicles the history of the United States Air Force using art from a collection of leading aviation artists including William S Phillips, Ronald Wong, Craig Kodera, Wilfred Hardy and John Young. Released in 1997 to mark 50 years since the formation of the US Air Force (previously the United States Army Air Force). The book takes each year in turn, a narrative summary of US Air Force activity is complimented by a diary giving dates of key events, and a full colour plate of a painting relevant to the period. Each section spans 3 pages and includes plenty of period photographs.
