Short Sunderland of No. 422 Squadron, based at Pembroke Dock, sweeping the English Channel in search of enemy shipping threats. With the range required to operate over the Atlantic, the Sunderland was rapidly equipped with the electronic detection and weapons systems needed to give the convoys effective protection and turn the tide against the U-boats.
