Superb Messerschmitt Me262A-1a/U4 Bomber Destroyer by CDC Armour Collection (later Franklin Mint). One of two prototype airframes test-fitted with the big Mauser Mk 214A V3 cannon at the Messerschmitt test airfield in Lager-Lechfeld in March and April of 1945. Intended to take on the large USAAF bomber formations, this specially adapted Me262 was flown several times by Luftwaffe test pilot Maj. Wilhem Herget, but before it could enter service the airfield was overrun by American troops and the aircraft was captured.
A substantial and heavy weight die cast metal model with some plastic parts.
A pre-owned model taken in as part of a larger collection of aviation items. This model spent some time in a glass display cabinet before being boxed and put into storage. The model is in superb condition. The original box is also in very good condition with just a few marks.
These larger Armour Collection / Franklin Mint pieces are getting hard to find now, this one is particularly rare, they look impressive when displayed, particularly as part of a collection.
For transit the original box will be packed securely inside a bigger postal box.
