Collector's autograph display featuring the original signature of Group Captain BOBBY OXSPRING DFC** AFC - RAF Battle of Britain Pilot.
Group Captain Bobby Oxspring flew Spitfires from the early encounters over France, during the Battle of Britain and throughout the remaining five years of the war - one of the great Spitfire Wing Leaders of WWII. He flew Spitfires with 66 Sqn in the Battle of Britain based at Hawkinge and Gravesend and by autumn 1940 was an ace with nine enemy aircraft destroyed - four Heinkel He111s, one Dornier Do17, one Me110, and 3 Me109s. Promoted to command 72 Sqn, he participated in Operation TORCH, the invasion of North Africa, before returning to the UK to command 24 Wing, adding an Fw190 and four buzz-bombs to his tally.
