Collector's autograph display featuring the original signature of Air Commodore PAT JAMESON DSO DFC* - RAF Battle of Britain Pilot.
In early June 1940, during the evacuation of Norway, Jameson led his 46 Sqn Hurricane flight onto the deck of HMS Glorious. It was a perilous attempt to save the squadron's aircraft and the first time Hurricanes were landed on a carrier. A tough New Zealander, Jameson had flown Hurricanes with great panache through the spring of 1940, contesting the ill-fated Norwegian campaign. Recording three victories, he was awarded the DFC for his determination and bravery. Later, in the Battle of Britain, he flew Spitfires with 266 Squadron - part of the legendary Bader wing.
In August 1942 he led the 12 Group Wing to Dieppe to provide fighter cover for the ships and troops during the famous commando raid. In July 1944 he took command of 122 (Mustang) Wing in Normandy and led them on the long, Allied liberation campaign through France, Belgium, Holland and finally Germany.
