A special tribute to the Messerschmitt Bf109E and its part in the Battle of Britain, this collector's autograph display includes the original signatures of three legendary Bf109E pilots, all holders of the Knight's Cross: Erich Rudorffer, Heinz Lange and Gunther Rall. 

The Bf109 was the Luftwaffe’s principal single-seater fighter aircraft during the Battle of Britain, and the only Luftwaffe combat aircraft to be continually developed and built throughout the 1939-45 war. Powered by a Daimler-Benz engine its performance was similar to the Spitfire and when two experienced opposing pilots came face-to-face, the advantages of one was generally cancelled out by advantages of the other. But with a cannon firing through the nose-cone, and four machine guns, the Bf109 had greater firepower than the Spitfire or Hurricane's smaller calibre machine guns.

This display ensemble remembering the Battle of Britain, acknowledges the major role of the Bf109 fighter pilots who flew and fought over England in 1940, and the undoubted quality of the Messerschmitt Bf109 aircraft. This highly accurate portrayal of the veritable Bf109 by accomplished aviation artist Darryl Legg is double mounted with silver-finished metal Luftwaffe pilots wings and carries the original signatures of three of the Luftwaffe’s most accomplished and successful Bf109 fighter aces who took part in air fighting over England in 1940:
