A special collector's autograph display including the original signatures of two opposing legendary fighter Aces: Wing Commander DON KINGABY DSO, DFC, DFM** and Hauptmann ALFRED GRISLAWSKI Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves.
In 1940 Don Kingaby shot down four Me109 Luftwaffe fighters in a single day during the Battle of Britain, the British Press dubbing him 'Mr Me109'. He continued to fly Spitfires almost throughout WWII, led the Hornchurch Wing in 1943, flew low-level support over the Normandy beaches and became one of the RAF’s most highly decorated fighter pilots of the war. Representing the Luftwaffe in this stunning ensemble is the highly decorated Luftwaffe ace and Gruppen Commander, Alfred Grislawski who flew over 800 missions in WWII and was credited with 133 air victories, many in the West during the Defence of the Reich flying the Focke Wulf Fw190. An aircraft considered by many, including Grislawski, to be the Luftwaffe’s best all-round fighter of WWII.
This highly collectible ensemble is complete with fine artwork by Darryl Legg, all-metal pilot’s wings and replica ceremonial gallantry medals: all beautifully mounted along with both pilots original signatures.
This mounted ensemble will fit into a generally available, standard size 20 x 20 inch ready made frame.
